stop the bleed®

above the standard

Brooks Battlegroup’s Stop the Bleed® course is taught by an official Stop the Bleed® Instructor and covers the nationally recognized curriculum and skills required to meet certification standards. We treat that standard as a baseline, not the finish line.

Brooks Battlegroup also develops and delivers its own parallel curriculum, built to align with nationally accredited/sanctioned training models while expanding beyond minimum requirements. Where many programs end when the certification requirements are met, our training continues with real-world applicability, helping students build capability, efficiency, and confidence under stress.

You can do Stop the Bleed® as a stand alone course or you can add on Stop the Bleed® and it will be integrated into your chosen discipline.

Students will learn to recognize life-threatening bleeding and intervene effectively using:

  • Scene awareness and rapid decision-making

  • Direct pressure and pressure dressings

  • Wound packing (including junctional wounds)

  • Tourniquet selection, placement, and tightening standards

  • Patient considerations while waiting for EMS (communication, positioning, heat loss, reassessment)

What makes this course different

If you’ve seen “one-hour” Stop the Bleed® classes, expect this to run slightly longer. We’ll meet the standard well within the required time, then add practical, scenario-based instruction tailored to:

  • Home, vehicle, workplace, and public settings

  • Everyday carry considerations and trauma kit setup

  • Common failures, misconceptions, and how to avoid them

  • Realistic problem-solving to increase speed and effectiveness

Training philosophy

We don’t train to standards, and we don’t train for certification alone. We train for applicability—capability and efficiency—so students can be contributing members of society when seconds matter.

Brooks Battlegroup training parallels and supports nationally accredited/sanctioned curricula and programs, including pathways associated with organizations such as USCCA, NRA, ASPIS, and select law enforcement and governmental standards.
