Joseph Brooks is the owner and chief instructor of Brooks Battlegroup, bringing a rare combination of combat leadership, instructor credentials, weapons expertise, ballistics expertise and protective services experience to every course. His training is built on proven, real-world standards, focused on safety, performance under pressure, and practical application for armed citizens, law enforcement, security agencies and professionals.

Experience

Joseph is a United States Marine Corps combat veteran (2001–2017) with four deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. Throughout his career, he served in a wide range of leadership and operational roles, including Infantry Rifleman, Squad Leader, Platoon Commander, Scout Sniper Assistant Team Leader, and Scout Sniper Platoon Sergeant, Staff Non-Commissioned Officer in charge, And Chief Instructor.

As an instructor, Joseph has trained 19,990+ students, including federal, state, and local law enforcement, Special Operations / Special Forces personnel, and Marines. His instructional background spans from marksmanship and weapons employment (pistol, rifle, shotgun, and crew-served weapons), small-unit offensive/defensive operations, MOUT/urban operations, convoy operations, and foreign weapons employment, maintenance, and disassembly (sabotage/unserviceability). He is also proficient in human behavior analysis, reconnaissance, and surveillance—skills that directly support personal protection and threat-focused training.

Most recently, Joseph has supported search and rescue operations, disaster relief, active threat personal protection, and asset protection, while operating Brooks Battlegroup as a dedicated firearms training and education company.
